Being Cyber Smart
Being cyber smart is something we are all striving for in this day and age of technology. Taking good care of yourself and your reputation online is a vital part of being successful. Be careful with all that you post online. Think - how do you want to advertise yourself? This movie was independently created by a small group of year 8 girls from Room 21. Thanks to Toreka, Selena, Thora and Teari, awesome work girls!

Warriors on Camp...
It's the final day of camp, we're at our local pool Swimarama - the Warriors arrive to train at the pools. None of the children knew this was going to happen so it was a huge treat for the campers. This is how we typically wind up our 3 day camp where tents are pitched on our very own school fields and all events and activities are local. A day to relax at the pools after all the hard work over the previous two days.
Thanks to our parents, teachers, helpers and the Warriors for making this such a memorable camp for the year 7 and 8 students of Pt England School. Well done to Joshua and Kayde, on the spot reporters for PENN (Pt England New Network)
Go the Warriors!

Here's a movie showing you items that our year 8's taught themselves. We will also post our closing school song.

School TV now online
schooltv was born in 2001 because of the popularity of the Pt England School Network News (PENN,) our school wide television broadcast. Mr Burt, the principal of Pt England School, investigated a variety of options for broadcasting the exciting things that were going on at the school, and using community television turned out to be the most efficient and economic method for doing this.
schooltv became that public television programme. Produced by the staff and students of Pt England School, it went to air every Wednesday on Triangle Television and could be viewed across the city of Auckland and, in later years, the whole of New Zealand.
Pt England School funded this entirely and it has been a great way to share our learning with the people in our community.
Today...
And now schooltv has transformed into a web based broadcast; reaching not only our local school community, the city of Auckland, and all of New Zealand, but THE WHOLE WORLD - 24 hours a day, 7 days of the week.
Here's an example of what you will find on our school website, every episode is ready for you to view. Check out our very talented presenters and the fun learning we have going at Pt England School. This part of episode 6, shows our year 5 and 6 students sharing their autobiographies. They worked with Dr Helen Barrett and her daughter Erin on these projects. Thanks again for your help, we loved being taught by you Dr Barrett and Erin.

Prayers for Christchurch
Dear Christchurch,
On behalf of Pt England School, we hope that you all find your way through this time of trouble and need. Your feelings of sadness and worry has made us think, what if we were you how would we know that people knew where we were and if we were okay?
We all feel helpless, and this is just a bit of our love and care to give to you. We hope that this will lift your hearts even the tiniest bit we also hope it will give you comfort, support and motivation to keep it together.
Yours sincerely Yr 5 and 6 extension group Chante,Shoal,Brooklyn and Kaycee from Pt England School Auckland,New Zealand.
We are feeling so sad about the people that have passed away in the earthquake. We want to give you some beautiful flowers but we cant right now so we drew you some. On behalf of Pt.England School in Auckland, we would like to give our support to encourage the people of Christchurch to keep going. Darius, Waata and Crusader.
We are sorry for the loss of your city. We all hope that you find your loved ones. Carry on don’t lose your faith, keep a hold of your hope and strive on. Our blessings and prayers will be with you all. Stay safe.
With all our love - Pt England Primary School. Jacob,Calvin and Rita
Dearest Christchurch,
This morning before starting our school day, we all met in our school hall to offer prayers for the people of Christchurch. Our principal explained to us why we were meeting and how we could help. We spent time today talking and looking at ways we can help the people of Christchurch. We hope that we will all pull together to help in any way we can. God bless and keep you Christchurch. Arohanui.

Rewind inspires!
Our year 5 and 6 students were very interested in the method St Pius used to produce their film festival movie 'Rewind'. They were so keen to find out more that they grabbed cameras and tried to film their very own 'Rewind' movie. Their task was much easier than that of St Pius as it had to last only 3o seconds. Some of the group figured it out very quickly, others had to stop and think it over a couple times before getting it right. We now understand why people looked a little awkward in the rewind movie. Click on the following names to see how we got on.

Wake up G.I.

Wake up G.I. is an MTV using the song 'Wake up everybody' which is sung by the artist John Legend, Melanie Fiona and 'The Roots'. This version is a remake, the original artists were Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes - recorded back in 1975.
The song has a very strong message of waking up - becoming more conscious of how we can keep improving together. We love living in Glen Innes and thought this would be a good reminder of how everyone has a part to play.
'The world won't get no better, we gotta change it yeah...just you and me'.
Wake Up G.I. from KPE TV on Vimeo.
Year 5 & 6 Extension Group Manaiakalani Film Festival 2010. The extension group would love to read what you thought of their MTV. Talanoa mai!

Term 4 - Little Critters (schoolwide enquiry)

It's term 4 already of 2010. At our school, we typically start the term off with an immersion assembly. Wondering what that is? Well it's where the teachers dress up and act in ways that 'immerse' the students into the new schoolwide enquiry. This term's enquiry is all about 'Little Critters'.
The movie attached gives you a glimpse of what our staff and students enjoyed on this very first day of term 4. If you visit our class blogs you will get to read and see the specific parts of the assembly our students hold as 'favourites'.
